Wall-mounted toilet bowls are modern and functional solutions that are gradually replacing the once-popular compact toilets. Although their installation seems complicated, in fact, it will not pose a problem even for a beginner DIY enthusiast. Installation of a Floor-standing Toilet Bowl - Where to Start?
The first stage of work is to attach the toilet to the floor using screws. If you decide to install a low-level cistern, remember to check its width! Installing the toilet bowl too close to the wall may cause the cistern not to fit behind it. With limited space, users will not be able to rest the cover on the vessel, which will greatly reduce the comfort of using the toilet. Rules for Installing a Toilet Bowl
The plumbing connection, connecting the WC bowl to the stack or outflow pipe, must be located no further than 1 m from the stack. It is equally important to maintain the appropriate height difference between the siphon and the toilet-bowl connection point to the stack (no more than 3 m). Adhering to these basic rules is particularly important if you plan to set the WC bowl in a different place. The toilet connection should be separate and connected to the stack lower than all the approaches on the same floor.
Low-level or High-level Cistern - Which Solution to Choose?
The market offer for high-level cisterns is increasingly sparse - no wonder, as installing a low-level cistern seems advantageous in every respect. Aesthetic, functional, and quiet, it surpasses old-fashioned solutions and offers greater convenience of use. Its construction relies on the installation of surface-mounted or concealed cisterns at a height of about 130 mm above the bowl, allowing for faster tank filling. Plumbing elements require connection to the installation using a corner valve at a height of about 1000 mm.
When installing the toilet bowl, a pressure flush valve can also be used, which is particularly recommended for large interiors. Unfortunately, this solution has some drawbacks, including a high noise level, low resistance to dirt, and inefficient flushing. Note! Pressure valves must be installed on the same axis as the WC bowl. The plumbing connection should end with a 3/4 thread, maintaining the appropriate distance from the floor (not less than 100 cm).
Installation of a Wall-mounted Toilet Bowl - What Should You Know?
Installing a wall-mounted toilet bowl requires the use of specialized plumbing elements, such as a concealed frame installed to the wall and floor or solely to the floor. Before starting work, consider whether the wall-mounted WC bowl will be attached to a partition wall or a brick wall. In the first case, it is sufficient to install the toilet in lightweight construction, in the second - to a heavy support. Precisely defining needs and outlining a work schedule will greatly facilitate subsequent tasks.
How to Install a Wall-mounted Toilet Bowl? Installation Stages
The installation of a wall-mounted toilet frame begins with placing it against the wall, leveling the whole structure, and marking the installation location of the upper edge of the construction. Next, drill holes in specified places and secure the brackets – this stage of work requires a lot of precision, so be sure to use a level and check that the support is perpendicular to the floor.
After installing the frame, proceed to install the drain and pins for hanging the toilet. Before mounting the drain elbow to the clamp, close the drain and water supply using two plugs. Then screw the pins for hanging the wall-mounted toilet in the holes. How to mount the WC bowl to the frame? Well, to install the frame to the water system, connect the flush valve to the system, then enclose the construction using plasterboard.
The final step is connecting the drains by trimming the pipe supplying water from the cistern to the bowl's drain. Finally, remember to install the bowl and the water flush button with the pins.
