You enter the bathroom intending to take a relaxing bath, and you're greeted with an unpleasant sight. Towels are scattered everywhere: on the washing machine, on the cabinets, and the bath towel is leisurely lying on the floor next to the shower. True, one of the towels is neatly hanging on the rack, but it's reached via a path marked by water droplets. You jump in with the intention of giving the household a wild scolding. Wait! Maybe it's your fault because you didn't ensure the right hooks or placed them in the wrong location? We'll advise you where to install the racks so that towels are always at hand.
How to functionally arrange towel racks in the bathroom?
The bathroom should be equipped with all necessary accessories, and the entire space should be designed in a functional way that provides comfort for the household members. It's worth considering where and at what height to place towel racks. Let's start with everyday towels that we use for drying our hands. These towels should be as close as possible to the sink to avoid splashing water on the floor when reaching for them.
We have several options to choose from:
- ideally, hang the towel rack on the same wall as the sink, to the right or left of it, depending on where we have space,
- if there is no space right next to the sink, you can attach the rack to one of the adjacent walls,
- if there are doors near the sink, it's worth using their surface, but then you need to choose racks that don't require drilling,
- for bowls placed on a counter, towel racks can be placed under the counter,
- a good solution, especially in a small bathroom, is fixing the rack to the side wall of the vanity with the sink.
Wall-mounted bathroom towel racks
Choosing a functional bathroom towel rack isn't a trivial matter. First, you need to decide on which wall and where it will be placed. Typically, there's not much space in the bathroom, so every bit must be reasonably utilized to fit all necessary bathroom accessories. You must also consider the individual needs of the household (the side the towel hangs on may be important for left-handed people).
In store offers, you'll find various types of bathroom towel racks to choose from:
- The classic and most commonly used are wall-mounted racks. Their advantage is their small size, which means we can attach them anywhere - by the sink, bathtub, or shower. They can be single hooks or longer bars with multiple hooks.
- An elegant form of a single towel rack is a decorative chrome ring, which, due to its aesthetic values, also serves a decorative function.
- A practical element of the bathroom is foldable wall rails equipped with special movable telescopes, allowing us to extend as many bars as we need at the moment. Such rails can act as small dryers and simultaneously be an interesting supplement to the bathroom decor.
- In small bathrooms, an arm rack with several movable rods, which can be adjusted to decide the space between them, will work well. It's best to place such a rack near the bathtub so every household member can hang their towel there.
Standing towel racks for the bathroom
Permanently mounted racks usually require drilling holes in the walls. Of course, you can opt for a cheap rack with a plastic suction cup that ensures non-invasive installation, but let's not fool ourselves; such racks tend to detach and fall off with even a small load of a single towel. So, what rack to choose to avoid drilling that could damage the tiles?
This is where bathroom ladders and stands, which are gaining popularity and look great in any bathroom, are recommended. Their advantage is mobility and the associated functionality. Simply put, using such racks allows us to freely change their location - placing them next to the sink, in front of the bathtub, on any side of the shower, or even moving them to another room.
Standing racks come in various heights. On a higher ladder rack, several towels can be placed, which facilitates their drying. Some ladder models have hooks for hanging baskets for toiletries. Steel racks with simple shapes and smooth chrome surfaces fit perfectly into interior design trends with a dominant minimalism. Cast iron and brass will be a good option if you style the bathroom in retro or glamour.
